Nissan Expands Scratch Resistant Technology Applications

If you have a smartphone with a touch screen, you know just how annoying it is when you get a scratch on it. It's even kind of annoying if the protective case you bought for it gets scratched, isn't it? As much as we hate to see our cell phones show the abuse we put them through, it's even more frustrating to see the cars we've invested our hard-earned money in get nicked up. But, lucky for you, Nissan's solved both of these problems.

They've been using their Scratch Shield Technology for four years on their vehicles, and they've been working on perfecting it for nearly a decade. And now, they've engineered a case for the iPhone. A self-healing clear coat protects an ABS-plastic case that protects the phone. Aside from keeping your phone (and your phone case) in pristine condition, it provides extra grip to prevent the dropping that often causes the damage to begin with.

This technology, perfected first on models like the Nissan Murano, helps keep the vehicles looking newer longer. Speaking on the decision to utilize the technology for more than just vehicles, Bob Laishley, Overseas Program Director of Business Development, Nissan, says, "We like to think laterally by taking the great innovations we've got from an automotive point of view, and looking at how they could be applied to improve everyday issues. The Scratch Shield iPhone case is a great example of us taking a Nissan automotive technology that has had a huge impact for our customers, and then shifting the boundaries to apply it to another everyday demand."1

When can you get one of these cases for your iPhone? It only just went into testing, and release dates could depend on the type of feedback they get. We're certain the feedback will be great, and we hope it hits the market soon!
