A Short Lesson on Nissan Brake Override Technology

Braking systems used to be pretty simple: when the driver hit the brake pedal with their foot, brake shoes would press down on the wheels of the vehicle, thereby slowing it down or completely stopping it. Not so much anymore, however. Today's vehicles with advanced computer and technological systems, enable enhanced safety for drivers and passengers. But it also means there's much more to stopping your vehicle than simply hitting the brake pedal.
Recognizing that neither drivers nor computers are perfect, Nissan has added another safety feature to all of their models since 2005: Brake Override Technology (BOT). This is, of course, just one of many innovative technologies available on all new Nissan models. Yes, it's been around for a while, but many carmakers are just beginning to adopt the technology. As such, Thoroughbred Nissan would like to take a minute to explain why this is such an important safety feature.
With BOT, when the vehicle is in motion, if both the brake and accelerator pedals are pressed at the same time, the brakes will overtake the acceleration, and the car will slow down. It is designed specifically for emergency situations, so it won't activate if you're travelling slowly or trying to get traction on slippery surfaces. But it should provide you with some peace of mind in case a dangerous driving situation does arise.
Of course, the hope is that your car won't ever have to activate BOT, but Nissan has made it a standard feature for the last six years, just in case. Many automakers are now following their lead, and there have been rumors that the government will make this a required piece of automotive technology in the coming years.
Again, this is just one example of many when it comes to the safety, technology, design and comfort you'll find infused in all new Nissan models. So be sure to stop in and see us, Thoroughbred Nissan, located at 5163 E 22nd St Tucson, AZ 85711 for a tour of all of the changes this automaker has made to their lineup in the last ten years.
